All applicants are required to submit a scanned copy of the bio page of their passport, irrespective of their nationality.

Scan Requirement 

  • A clear, high-resolution image is required
  • All passport details, including the MRZ code, must be fully visible
  • Avoid glare, shadows, reflections, or cropped edges

FAQ: What is the minimum passport validity required for a Canada eTA?

The passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the date of arrival in Canada. 

Nationality-Based Requirement 

Applicants from certain nationalities must meet an additional eligibility condition for a Canada eTA. Check the Canada visa policy to see if this applies to you.

Accepted Supporting Document 

  • Canadian temporary visitor visa issued within the past 10 years, OR 
  • A valid US non-immigrant visa (valid at the time of application)

What Information Is Required in the Application Form?

If you held a Canadian visitor visa within the past 10 years:

Applicants are only required to confirm that they previously held an eligible Canadian visitor visa. No scan copy or visa details are required.

If you hold a valid U.S. non-immigrant visa:

No scanned copy is required. Simply provide the following details in the application form. 

  • Visa Number
  • Expiry Date
