Canada Transit eTA Requirements

Requirement Common to All Eligible Applicants 

  • Passport bio-page scan copy.

Additional Requirement for Certain Nationalities 

The Canada eTA policy requires certain nationalities to meet an additional eligibility requirement to apply for a Canada eTA.

One of the following conditions must be met by the applicant. 

  • They held a Canadian visitor visa within the past 10 years, or
  • They currently hold a valid U.S. non-immigrant visa on the date they apply for the Canada eTA.

They must also travel to or transit through Canada by air using a valid passport.

Apply for a Canada Transit eTA

Step 1

Fill out the Canada eTA application form with accurate travel and passport details.

Step 2

Applicants from certain nationalities must also confirm that they held a Canadian visitor visa within the past 10 years or currently hold a valid U.S. non-immigrant visa.

Step 3

Upload a scanned copy of the passport bio page. If more documents are required, the eTA support will contact the applicant.

Step 4

Pay the eTA fee using a credit/debit card or cryptocurrency, then submit the form.

Step 4

Once the application processing is completed, the approved Canada eTA will be sent by email. Use it to transit through Canada by air.

Canada Transit eTA Application Tracking 

Once the Canada eTA application is submitted for processing, the applicant starts receiving regular status updates at their registered email ID.
