Depending on the traveller's nationality, they can either apply for a Canada eTA or a Canada visa or be exempt from both requirements.

A Canada eTA is an electronic travel authorisation required for certain foreign nationals travelling to or transiting through Canada by air.

Who can apply without supporting documents?

Applicants from the following nationalities can apply for a Canada eTA using only a valid passport.

Who can apply with supporting documents?

Applicants from the following nationalities must have held a Canadian visitor visa in the last 10 years OR currently hold a valid U.S. non-immigrant visa (valid on the day of application) to apply for a Canadian eTA.
